MESSAGE FROM THE VICAR
Dearly beloved in Christ,
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ.
As we enter into the second month of the year,
let us praise God for all His manifold blessings.
February is an important month for the Malan-
kara Mar Thoma Syrian church community.
One of the largest Christian Convention in Asia,
which is the 130th session of the Maramon
Convention will begin on 8th February and will last one week. Let us pray
to God for a blessed Maramon Convention and that all who hear the mes-
sages at the sand beds of Pampa River can see and know God at a person-
al level.
The Church observes 'Medical Mission Sunday' on first Sunday of February.
Healing was the total purpose of the mission of Jesus in the world. Jesus
identified with the pain of the person. Through that He restored that per-
son to an active socio-religious beings. Jesus' life was the cost of that
identification. Now the healing ministry is away from the salvific act of Je-
sus. In present situation so many are affected with chronic diseases. Some
times we have to look for the reason for these diseases. That may be an
outcome of vested interests of profit motive decisions of the authorities.
There we have to take position with the prey of that situation and fight
against that. Healing touches are being commercialized, the commercial-
ized mission of healing reduces it as a 'wonder work'. Therefore, we need
true Christian healing approach. The real Christian healing is the manifes-
tation of the creative power of God's love. The ministry of healing is minis-
try of compassion and love. Let us be the channels of healing of great
healer our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The observation of the ' Fast of Nineveh ' or three day Lent will begin on
9th to until 12th. It falls 18 days before the Great Lent and is known as
“little Lent”. The confession and conversation of Jonah and the people of
Nineveh are the thrust of this fast. Like Jonah we all wish to accommodate
God in the boxes of our thoughts. Jonah is at work in all of us a lot of
times. No concerns towards others. The Sacrament of confession is to
counter the 'Jonah' within us. The more we confess the more we are open
to the Grace of God.
This Lenten season is the period of spiritual re-evaluation. Let us examine
whether we are in love and mercy with our neighbors. The Lent season
demands a time of turning away from the wrongs in our life and turning
away towards God. May God bless us all.
With Prayers.
Rev. Johnson Samuel (Vicar)

Dearly beloved in Christ,
Glory be to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - One True
God! Amen.
Wow, it is already February! How quickly time is flying!
As the world emphasizes romantic love, it's a great oppor-
tunity for Christians to focus on agape—God's uncondition-
al, selfless love that transcends emotions and embraces ac-
tion.
In 1 Corinthians 13, St. Paul's description of love as being patient and kind is
truly a countercultural call to practice love that seeks others' well-being. This
love is not limited to moments of celebration or affection but extends to those
who are hard to love, like strangers, enemies, and those with different opin-
ions. Beloved, as we persevere to embody this love, we discover ourselves
evolving and motivated to bring Christ into everything we do.
Amid a world filled with hostility and division, embodying this Christlike love
can serve as a powerful testimony. Uncomplicated acts of kindness, listening
with empathy, and speaking truth in love cannot only recast relationships but
also bring hope and positivity in the face of hardship.
I then implore us all to see that this Valentine's season, let's be intentional
about reflecting God's love.
Here's a simple challenge for the days ahead:
Pray for Someone Difficult to Love – Lift someone who has hurt or disagreed
with you.
Commit to One Act of Unconditional Love – Show kindness without expecting
anything in return.
Encourage Someone – Share a word of affirmation or encouragement with
someone who might feel unseen.
May February inspire us to let God's love shape how we see and serve others,
especially as we wait on the verge of Great Lent. Through this, we find reas-
surance and comfort in the ultimate love shown to us through Jesus Christ,
guiding us in our daily interactions and decisions.
In Christ's Love,
JVarghese Achen
